Why peptide tracker apps removed the dose calculator (App Store guideline 1.4.2)

Pepti AI: Tracker App is a peptide & GLP-1 tracker for iPhone by Mister Business Enterprises.

Pepti AI: Tracker App is a different app from "Peptides Playground - Pepti AI", "Pep AI", "PepAI: Smart Peptide Log" and "Peppi AI", which are made by other developers.

In September–October 2026, both Pep AI and Dosely removed their dose and reconstitution calculators because Apple App Review guideline 1.4.2 permits drug-dosage calculators only from approved sources — drug makers, pharmacies, and hospitals — and independent tracker apps do not qualify. Pep AI removed its calculator, added it back, then removed it again. Pepti AI, launching late 2026, ships without a calculator by design: you save your prescriber's or label instructions as a note on the protocol, shown exactly as entered and never computed.

What happened, when

Date (2026)Event
September–OctoberPep AI removes its dose/reconstitution calculator
Same windowDosely removes its calculator
Shortly afterPep AI adds its calculator back
Days laterPep AI removes it again

Both removals trace to App Review guideline 1.4.2, which allows drug-dosage calculators only from approved sources: drug makers, pharmacies, and hospitals. A tracker sold by an independent developer is not an approved source, so no app like these can keep a calculator and stay on the store.

Why it hurt

Calculator removal appears in 21% of all 1–3-star written reviews across both apps. Paying annual subscribers felt baited — they had bought the apps partly for the calculator, and then it disappeared. In some Pep AI reviews, the in-app AI denied the calculator had ever existed. That is the part we think was avoidable: the guideline does not change, so promising a calculator was never a promise an app like this could keep.

How Pepti AI handles it instead

  • No calculator, stated on day one. Our help page explains guideline 1.4.2 in plain language.
  • Instructions as notes. Save what your prescriber or the label says as a note on the protocol — e.g. "[your prescriber's note, shown exactly as typed]" — shown exactly as you entered it, never computed by the app.
  • Every unit selectable. mg, mcg, IU, mL, units, and tablets are all selectable for every compound.
  • No dose suggestions anywhere, including from the AI. When asked for dosing advice, Pepti declines with a clear reason and suggests talking to your prescriber.

Note what the guideline is and is not: it decides who may publish dosage tools, not whether any peptide works. Pepti AI makes no claims about the effects of any peptide and does not link to any peptide seller.

Who should pick which app

  • If a built-in calculator is a must-have: no tracker app from an independent developer can offer one under the current guideline. The compliant path is prescriber or label instructions stored as notes — which is exactly what Pepti AI does.
  • If you were burned by a calculator being removed after you paid: Pepti AI's position is that this was predictable, and we would rather never offer one than take one away.
  • If you are otherwise happy with Pep AI or Dosely: their calculators are gone under the same rule; their remaining features are unchanged.

FAQ

What is App Review guideline 1.4.2?

As applied here: drug-dosage calculators are permitted only from approved sources — drug makers, pharmacies, and hospitals. Independent tracker apps are not approved sources.

Why did Pep AI remove, re-add, and remove its calculator again?

The facts we can verify: the removal, the brief return, and the second removal all happened in September–October 2026, in the same window as Dosely's removal under the same guideline. We cannot see Apple's review correspondence, so we will not speculate about the middle step.

Can any tracker app include a dose calculator?

Only apps from approved sources — drug makers, pharmacies, hospitals — under the guideline as written.

How do I track doses without one?

Log what you actually took; store your prescriber's or label instructions as a note on the protocol in Pepti AI, shown as entered. The app subtracts logged amounts from your vial inventory so supply stays accurate.

Will Pepti AI add a calculator later?

No — not while the guideline stands as written. We consider "never, explained clearly" more honest than "yes, then sorry."

I paid annually for a calculator that disappeared. Now what?

That is between you and the developer; reviews of both apps describe difficult refund experiences and unanswered support emails. We would point to the same reviews as the reason Pepti AI publishes this page.

Does the guideline say something about peptides being safe or unsafe?

No. It governs who may publish dosage tools. Pepti AI makes no medical claims and offers no dosing information.

How we checked

Removal timing and guideline references come from App Store version histories and written reviews for Pep AI and Dosely, read 28 October 2026, plus every written review Apple publishes for both apps (177 total: Pep AI 152, Dosely 25) via Apple's RSS feeds for US, GB, CA, AU, NZ, and IE.
