Getaway is a real-world hide-and-seek and chase game for groups, played outdoors on phones. Pick teams, agree on a play area, and head out.
Three seats in the game
- Crew: hide and get away.
- Chasers: find the Crew. Blurred location scans arrive every few minutes, rather than live positions during the chase. Stay close to lock on.
- Sweep: an optional safety referee seat.
The rules can reveal live positions in specific situations, such as leaving the play area or raising an SOS. Everyone sees everyone at roll call. See the location policy.
Street or Trail
Street mode is on foot, within a set play area.
Trail mode is for bikes, dirt bikes, e-bikes, horses and ATVs. Play along a trail corridor imported from GPX, or within a drawn riding area. Choose a place where your activity is allowed.
Try a Practice run
Play against three bots with no account and no signal. Practice lets you try the game before joining a group.
No accounts
Players pick a name for each game. On iPhone, achievements work with Apple Game Center if you are signed in to it. Only real rounds with at least 3 players and lasting at least 5 minutes count toward achievements; Practice earns only “Dry Run”.
Play and ride safely
Getaway is not a safety device. SOS alerts only the players in your game, not emergency services. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
Obey laws and trail rules. Stay off private land without permission and wear protective gear. Never use the phone while moving; stop somewhere safe first.
Getaway is meant for ages 13 and over. Younger players should play with an adult in the Sweep seat.
