Compare the approaches
| Approach | Useful for | Limit or tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Photos | Select known unwanted photos and videos in your existing library. | You manage the review boundaries and decide what remains unfinished. |
| Phone Swipe Media | See when a month is done and resume locally saved progress. | Requires Photos permission; the free plan includes 100 media reviews in total (no daily reset), and Plus removes that limit. |
Start with one month
Back up wanted media, then choose a single month rather than attempting the entire library. In Phone Swipe Media, use the month view to keep the session bounded.
Keep uncertainty out of the delete queue
Open photos full screen, play videos and check available metadata. Swipe right to keep, left to queue or up for Later. Undo a mistaken choice and return to uncertain items when you have time.
End with a queue check
Rescue individual items or restore the whole queue before confirming. Review progress is stored on this device, not a guarantee of a cross-device review history. After deletion, iCloud Photos syncs the change and Recently Deleted normally offers 30 days to recover items unless permanently removed sooner.
Availability and languages
Phone Swipe Media is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, requiring iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or later. These guide translations do not establish app interface languages or regional availability. Check your local App Store.
Product details or contactQuestions and answers
Can I stop halfway through a month?
Yes. Phone Swipe Media saves review progress on your device so you can continue in short sessions.
Do I have to delete every item I review?
No. Keep it or set it aside for Later; reviewing is a decision, not a deletion requirement.
Can the app guarantee I will not lose a photo I want?
No tool can make that promise. Back up important memories and inspect the queue before confirming deletion.
