Apple Photos or Phone Swipe Media for photo cleanup?
Start with the tool already on your phone. Apple Photos can select many items and merge detected duplicates without adding another app. Phone Swipe Media offers a different workflow: review individual photos and videos, keep them, queue them for deletion, or set them aside for later.

Compare the approaches
| Approach | Useful for | Limit or tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Photos: batch selection | Select and remove many known unwanted items in the built-in library. | You still decide which items to select; it is a different interaction from a sequential review deck. |
| Apple Photos: Duplicates | Merge groups Apple has identified as duplicates, keeping quality and relevant data. | Detection can take time, and duplicate merging does not decide which unrelated memories you want to keep. |
| Phone Swipe Media | Review by month with Keep, Delete and Later, then inspect and restore queued items before confirmation. | Requires Photos permission. The free plan has a review allowance; Plus is a paid option. You make the decisions. |
Choose the task before choosing an app
For an obvious batch of unwanted images, try Photos first. For repeated individual decisions across a crowded camera roll, a swipe deck and a Later list may make the work easier to resume. Phone Swipe Media supports photos and videos, inspection and filters; it does not promise perfect duplicate detection or a specific amount of storage recovered.
A queue is reversible before deletion
Queuing an item in Phone Swipe Media does not delete it. Inspect the queue and rescue one item or restore all before confirming. Once you confirm deletion, Apple Photos rules apply: iCloud Photos deletions propagate to other devices using the same Apple Account. Back up memories you want to keep. Recently Deleted normally retains deleted items for 30 days unless they are permanently deleted sooner.

Do I need a subscription just to delete photos?
No. Apple Photos provides deletion. Phone Swipe Media offers an optional review workflow with a free allowance and paid unlimited reviews; check the current product page and the price Apple displays before purchasing.
Does translating this guide change the app language?
No. This guide has its own English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese versions. Choose the available interface language on your device; a translated web page is not proof that every app screen has been tested in that language.
