Pingsterz

A live map or a group chat for finding what is happening nearby?

A group chat works well when you already know whom you want to meet. A live map answers a different question: what have people chosen to share nearby right now? Pingsterz uses temporary public pings. It is for adults, and a ping is not a private invitation or a promise that someone remains at that place.

ApproachUseful forLimit or tradeoff
Group chatCoordinate with a group you choose.Messages and meeting details need manual updates.
Agreed meeting pointSimple coordination without broadcasting a location ping.Changes need a call or message; there is no live map.
PingsterzA map of recent public pings, with friend following.Pinging shares your username and precise position publicly in the app.

Understand the visibility tradeoff

Pingsterz sends your exact position when you ping; it is not continuous friend tracking. Free pings are shown for up to 60 minutes, or two hours with Pingsterz+. Optional photos depend on moderation availability. Reporting and blocking are available, but an expiring ping does not guarantee that nobody saved what they saw.

Use the simpler option when it fits

For a private catch-up, a group message and agreed meeting point may be more suitable. Use a public ping only from somewhere you are comfortable sharing. Accounts, hosted storage, moderation and retention exceptions mean this is not a server-free or zero-data service. Read the privacy policy before posting, especially its provisions for reported photos.

Questions and answers

Is Pingsterz a private friend-location tracker?

No. Pings are public within the app. Following friends changes how you find them; it does not make a ping private.

Which languages does the app support?

The app contains English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese interfaces. Website translation alone is not evidence of availability in a particular store or region.
